Originally
incorporated as a Joint Venture company with Danfoss
Denmark, which ended in 1991, Indfos is India's leading
manufacturer of Refrigeration, Air Conditioning, Domestic
Appliances and Industrial Controls. Starting with Thermostats for Domestic Refrigerators,
the division has steadily added a diverse range of products
to its portfolio. Presently, the division manufactures a wide
variety of Instruments and Controls in the following segments.

TECHNOLOGY
Over the years
the division has invested strongly in pressure and temperature
sensor technologies. The division has acquired technologies
for a variety of sensors like bellows , diaphragms , pistons
and bimetals which are generally used to produce pressure
and temperature controls. These technologies have been acquired
from world leaders like Danfoss (Denmark), Texas Instruments(
Holland) and Dresser Industries (USA) and are supplemented
by the efforts and creativity our inhouse R&D efforts.
The R&D department of the division is recognized by
the Department Of Science and Technology, Government of
India.

In
order to utilize the various sensor technologies effectively,
the division has strived to excel in manufacturing
technologies also. All critical parts including metallic
bellows used in Controls are made in-house under stringent
quality norms. Latest assembly methods and test &
calibration equipment are used. A well equipped standards
room ensures the reliability of these equipment.

The versatility
of technologies available with the Instrument and Control
division has made Indfos a unique company, amongst only
a few in the world which make products as diverse as Thermostats
for Refrigerators to Pressure Switches for Nuclear Power
Stations.
FACILITIES
The Division
is located in the city of Ghaziabad, near Delhi in a 19,880
Sq. Mtr. facility and is an ISO-9001 certified unit. The
facility is equipped with its own captive power plant, a
modern workshop latest assembly, test & calibration
equipment and standards room.

Metallic
Bellows are used as the basic sensors in most of the
Instruments and Controls produced by the Division.
The division has its own seamless bellows manufacturing
plant, which is the only plant of its kind in India.
The plant produces seamless bellows in Phosphor Bronze
and Stainless Steel construction.

SALES NETWORK
India's diversity
and geographical spread poses the challenge of reaching
a control to a customer in any part of the country as quickly
and as efficiently as possible. The division has established
a network of dedicated and competent distributors and dealers,
which enables it to meet this challenge. The efforts of

HYDRAULICS
DIVISION

The Division is
located in the city of Noida, near Delhi in a 1950 Sq Mtr facility
and is an ISO-9001 certified unit.
The division conceptualizes , manufactures
and commissions different types of Hydraulic Systems. The present
thrust is on Power Packs designed to replace mechanical and electrical
Power Packs. These systems are compact in size but yet provide
extra power with less wear and tear.
Indfos has identified the Aviation
/ Defence industry as a niche for its hydraulic systems and has
selected ground support applications as a major thrust area. Till
date more than 275 hydraulic systems have been commissioned at
various locations in the country.
Hydraulic
Service Trolley (HST) - Ground support equipment for aviation
industry
Hydraulic Service Trolley is a unique Power Pack used
for testing the Hydraulic Systems of an aircraft by simulating
airborne conditions on the ground.

Indfos started
HST programme in the year 1989 under the guidance of HAL
and made the first prototype model of Hydromobile-120 (HST-
120). Commercial production commenced upon successful testing
of the various hydraulic systems of MIG 27 aircraft. This
effort was further extended to other versions of MIG aircraft.
Today Indfos has a strength of more than 200 hydraulic service
trolleys type HST-120 in operation at almost all Indian
Air Force base flying units. Both electrical and diesel
versions of HST-120 are also regularly used at base repair
depots.
Recently the division has successfully developed and commissioned
hydraulic service trolley HST-200 on the Sukhoi SU30K -
MKI Aircraft.

TROLLEY
- OPERATIONAL AT BASE
|
|
A Hydraulic Service Trolley has now been successfully developed
and commissioned on the Light Combat Aircraft. The unique
feature of this trolley is the option of an electric motor,
which can be used as the prime mover in place of the diesel
engine.
The division
is also in the process of developing Test Rigs for testing
various components of Aircraft at Defence Laboratories.
Indfos has been
awarded for excellence in 'AEROSPACE INDIGENISATION' by
SIATI (Society of Indian Aerospace Technologies and Industries)
in the year 1998 for outstanding contribution towards the
indigenous development and production of Ground Support
Equipment thus saving foreign exchange.
HSTs are successfully
servicing the following aircrafts of the Indian Air Force
and other Defence Units.

HAL and Indfos. Hydraulic Service Trolleys were imported till 1990.
Both worked closely to successfully indigenise the hydromobile,
at significantly lower cost.
